Message I'm not an expert on head design but I have more experience with these heads than a good number of people at this point. Did Greg buy both heads, then compare them side to side? I spent weeks on this process before beginning to port.

The 40p's/48p's have a short side that is nearly flat before turning sharply into the bowl. Name one expert that advocates this design today.

Performance on a flow bench (high CFM numbers) doesn't translate to improved performance on the road. Nissan didn't have the technology in the late 1980's to make this distinction. We've learned much about head design in the last decade.

While I believe strongly that the NA design is superior, that doesn't mean that it can't be improved with port work. Why not achieve great CFM numbers and maintain a high velocity at the same time?
